Chief Executive Officer
James co-founded Altongate in 1999 and has led the company's growth into one of the UK's most respected infrastructure consultancies. With over 30 years of industry experience, James has overseen the delivery of major transport, energy, and water programmes valued at over £20 billion. He maintains close relationships with key government bodies and industry organisations, ensuring Altongate remains at the forefront of infrastructure policy and delivery best practice. James is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers and sits on the advisory board of the Major Projects Association.
Director of Operations
Sarah joined Altongate in 2005 and has been instrumental in establishing the company's healthcare infrastructure practice. As a chartered quantity surveyor with 25 years of experience, Sarah has delivered cost management services on major hospital developments, education facilities, and complex refurbishment projects. She leads operational excellence initiatives across the business, ensuring consistent delivery standards and client satisfaction. Sarah is passionate about promoting diversity in construction and mentors young professionals entering the industry through the RICS Foundation.
Technical Director
Michael brings 28 years of civil and environmental engineering experience to his role as Technical Director. He has led the technical delivery of major water treatment facilities, flood defence schemes, and coastal protection projects across the UK. Michael's expertise spans hydraulic modelling, environmental impact assessment, and sustainable drainage systems. He has authored several technical papers on resilient infrastructure design and regularly presents at industry conferences. Michael chairs Altongate's technical advisory board and ensures the company maintains leading-edge engineering capabilities.
Head of Programme Delivery
Emma has spent 20 years delivering major highways and rail infrastructure programmes, joining Altongate in 2010. She has programme managed some of the UK's most complex transport schemes, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams and managing stakeholder relationships across public and private sectors. Emma's pragmatic approach to risk management and her ability to navigate complex regulatory environments have earned her an excellent reputation with clients. She is a chartered civil engineer and holds an MSc in Project Management from UCL.
Finance Director
Robert joined Altongate in 2012, bringing extensive financial management experience from the professional services sector. He oversees all financial operations, commercial strategy, and business development activities. Robert has implemented robust financial controls and reporting systems that support the company's sustainable growth. He works closely with clients to structure commercial arrangements that deliver value and manage risk effectively. Robert is a qualified accountant and holds an MBA from London Business School.
Director of Sustainability
Lisa established Altongate's sustainability practice in 2019, bringing 18 years of environmental consultancy experience. She leads the integration of net zero principles into project delivery and advises clients on environmental strategy and compliance. Lisa's research background in sustainable infrastructure has informed the development of innovative approaches to carbon reduction and circular economy principles in construction. She represents Altongate at industry sustainability forums and is a member of the UK Green Building Council.
